Maria was here visiting in Ithaca for three weeks. Above is a photo at the beginning of her visit with Maria and Maria Elina when I was barely showing. Underneath is me and Jack out at an Ithaca "nightclub" (?) with Maria, Milica, and Pedro.
One of the things that Maria and I did while she was here was go to Syracuse mall to go maternity clothes shopping. It is quite the industry, complete with strange contraptions and underpinnings with names like "the secret fit belly," etc. Also most people who work at the stores are old and somewhat crotchety with all sorts of ideas of the way things are supposed to be. One of them announced to me that actually it wasn't good to wear underwire bras to bed (WHAT??????? Who would do such a thing???). However when she saw the look of confused horror on my face she qualified by saying that by this time I really should be wearing some kind of bra to bed! A bra to bed!?! I glanced down at my boobs and announced, "I don't even need to wear a bra during the day, let alone at night!" At which point I got a good guffaw from Maria and quiet giggles from other pregnant ladies in the store, but only a stern look of disapproval from the old lady.
On the belly front, am definitively showing now as opposed to just looking like I had too much to eat. People I know touch my belly first, say Hi to me second! (I guess I should get used to this?) I can't confidently say that I have felt the fetal movements yet although during an Iron Man machine gun tirade in surround sound at our new stadium seating theater, I felt the most yet. Poor Jellybean! I don't know what I was thinking!!!! ;-}~
